Spring has arrived and with it the start of the concert season. Northern Colorado has tons of great concerts most are free and outside over the summer.  This weekend (Fri. April 25th & Sat. April 26th) in Fort Collins is the first music festival which is inside various venues in town. focoms6-b3-a_0

FoCoMX 6 features over 150 artists covering most music styles in various venues in close proximity in Old Town Fort Collins. You can purchase a wristband for $30 which covers admission to any of the venues for any of the artists. The festival starts Friday afternoon at 3 and ends in the wee hours of the night on Saturday.

I like this festival because it gives the opportunity to sample local music and not worry about wasting money on a bad performance. If you check out a band you don’t like you can leave and walk down the block to the next venue with another band. In years past I’ve discovered and/or heard these bands which might be worth a listen… Winchester Holiday is probably my favorite this year with their unique sound and harmonies. The Patti Fiasco is great for those up late wanting a lively rock show. For Reggae/world I’d like to check out an old favorite that I haven’t heard in years 12 Cents For Marvin. And to round out my experience I’d like to see Counrty/Bluegrass/American band the Holler… Although it may be more fun to just walk around Old Town and pop in whatever venue has a good sound coming out the door and see who I can discover. Hope you get a chance to check out some great local music this season.
